August 2, 2005

Yay, I'm married. Now I can stop stressing out about wedding things and get back to stressing out about my regularly scheduled life. Except hopefully with less stressing. We didn't have an official photographer, so there will be more photos to come, but I may not get around to putting them all up on the web. Enjoy.

Putting up photos of our (new) condo seemed like a good excuse for finally updating this page! At some point I suppose I could mention that we're getting married in 3 weeks. Of course I've hopefully mentioned that to anyone who happens to read this, but planning a wedding in only a month has kept me really distracted. So if I should have told you and haven't...just give me a call and yell at me or something. Anyhow, enjoy the photos.

March 31, 2005

I need to write something here, otherwise there won't be any entries for the whole month of March. And that would be a crime. I've been putting more stuff over on Dangling Conversations and I plan to keep on doing that since I really don't feel like figuring out comments over here...and comments are fun :) In an effort to force myself to get something accomplished I've schedule a committee meeting in about 2 weeks. For those of you who haven't been through grad school and haven't had the pleasure of committee meetings, this is where you get to sit down with your advisory committee and tell them about everything you've been working on for the past several months, what you're planning to do next and so forth. This one will be a little tricky because I've been spending a lot of time on course work, and even more time playing World of Warcraft. I could happily talk about WoW for several hours, but I don't think they would appreciate it.

About 2 weeks ago I did my student seminar, basically a twenty minute talk about my project (what I'm trying to accomplish, why it's worth doing, how we're going about it, where I'm at now) in front of the entire department. It was utterly nerve racking. The first time I've had to speak in front of an audience since high school. Except for one time at a conference, but I was just reading off my notes so that doesn't really count. I'm not good at public speaking and was completely panicked. It actually went ok, very different than the rehearsals because I realized about 2 minutes in that once I'd gotten through it, the whole thing would be over and I could relax. So I wound up going quite a bit faster than during the rehearsals. In order to try and get some more experience with this sort of thing, my friend Sara & I have started going to drop in improv classes...if they continue to be fun, I may sign up for actual classes. Last weekend we stayed for the show after the drop in (unsurprisingly they offer the free class immediately before the show), where we bumped into my ex-husband, who was out on a date, a first date. Oddly, he did actually tell his date who I was (I had just waved from across the room) and she decided she wanted to meet me. The world is a very strange place...and coincidences are always amusing.
